Srimath sAkshAth swamy was born in a hamlet called kondal near mElkOte in the month of Chitthra with ArudrA as his birthstar (Sree Bhashyakarar was also born in chithrai star in the month of chithrai). He studied grantha chathushtyam under the holy feet of Ranganatha swAmy and took up sanyasam from him. He was also known as “gnAna vairAgya anushtAna shEvadhi”. He was also considered as a reincarnation of Sri Ramanuja and hence was called “sAkshAth swAmy”. As ordained by periya perumal and his AchArya, he authored “Irupatthi nAlAyirappadi” (24000) grantham which is a vyAkyAnam for bhagavath vishayam – AarAyirappadi. He has also authored other works such as
vyAkyAnam for “PoorvasArAswAdhini”,
nyAsa vidhyA darpanam

His prime disciple was Thihrukkudanthai dEsikan also called as “gOpAlArya maha dEsikan” – who is the sthApakar of munithraya sampradAya.
